The Rural Economic Development Academy (REDA) is designed to provide an in-depth and practical understanding of key issues and considerations associated with successful local and regional economic development, important elements of building and sustaining a local economy, how to build an effective local economic development team, understanding your product and brand-and selling it, and community competitiveness. Targeted invitees include local elected officials, economic development staff and board members, CareerSource professionals, utilities staff and other private service providers, local and regional planning professionals, water management and other special district staff, and other local stakeholders involved in the economic development process.

REDA is a one-day, comprehensive program developed through a cooperative partnership between Opportunity Florida and the North Florida Economic Development Partnership (NFEDP)-two Rural Area of Opportunity (RAOs) regional economic development organizations serving North Florida rural counties. REDA will involve highly interactive sessions and will be led by senior executive staff from VisionFirst Advisors, LLC, a worldwide economic development and site selection firm. Logistical and administrative support is being provided by the John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government at Florida State University.
