Teaching and Training Tomorrow’s Workforce
Employees are one of the most important elements of business success; making sure you have the properly skilled workforce is one of our tasks.
That starts with a proper education, shaping responsible and dependable students. One of our primary tasks is ensuring tomorrow’s workforce is adequately prepared. Along with our highly rated public education system, with academies in such areas as business, healthcare and agriculture, numerous opportunities exits through technical and vocational schools and colleges, most notably:
Through the Levy County Schools Career and Technical Education program, students can earn an Associates in Science degree. They can also visit industry, career shadow, earn certifications in desired fields, and participate in co-curricular programs. Additionally, several higher education institutions are located in the region. One of the most critical is the College of Central Florida, with campuses in Ocala, Citrus and here in Levy County with a new campus that opened north of Chiefland in the summer of 2017.
Programs for in-demand occupations in healthcare, business administration and other areas are offered, and enrollment at the Chiefland campus continues to climb as more men and women look to build a better life. You can see for yourself the impact CF has by reviewing the CF Fact Book for 2017-18.
Playing one of the biggest roles in the region for job readiness and placement is our community partner CareerSource. The agency works with employers and job seekers to connect the two for the most appropriately qualified positions.
CareerSource offers countless services, such as applicant screening and interviews, career fairs and expos, on the job training and more. Best thing: their services don’t cost you, so it’s like having a free Human Resources department.
