Williston Municipal Airport & Industrial Park: Reaching High Altitudes

In the 1940’s, the site served as the Montbrook Army Airfield, opening Jan. 1, 1942. It was a sub-base for the main training facility in Alachua County. Two squadrons were assigned to the location, with B-25 and B-26 bombers among the aircraft stationed there.

The property was deeded to the City in 1974, with annexation and development of the property beginning in 1988. Here’s the 30-second flyover

  • It’s south of the central business district, 25-miles west of Interstate 75 and about 25-minutes from Gainesville.
  • It covers approximately 2,000 acres with more than 300 developable acres available for aviation or non-aviation needs.
  • It has an updated fixed base operator (FBO) with conference room space, and transportation from the airport can be arranged.
  • It’s home to several prominent manufacturers, including ANCORP, Monterey Boats, Shadow Trailer and Revolution Aviation. Call (352) 528-3060 for more details or to schedule a site visit.

East of the airport by about a mile is the rail trans-loading facility owned by Regional Rail LLC. The site allows for the loading or unloading of freight on the shortline railroad that runs from Newberry to Crystal River, which is a run of about 47 miles.

The video to the left provides the key details about this facility, which is suitable for handling numerous freight, including aggregate, chemicals and very large loads such as transformers and other utility equipment. Additionally, freight can be routed to numerous deepwater ports or out-of-state hubs, saving significant transport costs.

The facility is located at 715 E. Noble Ave, Williston.

Included in the extensive amenities at the Williston airport are prime locations to locate diverse industry. One such asset is a vacant steel building that has been used for hangar door assembly and other purposes.

The two-story building — built in 1990 — has several offices and bathrooms, and a hoist in the ground floor assembly area. An open area on the end can be enclosed to create almost 25,000 total square feet under roof.
